Why Rent with Malik Adventures
We maintain a professional fleet of sea kayaks used by our own expedition guides — the same boats that complete multi-day island crossings. When you rent from Malik Adventures, you get real kit.
Perception Horizon doubles, Prijon and P&H singles — fully outfitted touring kayaks, identical to those used on our own guided expeditions.
Carbon shaft paddle, PFD, spray skirt, 20L dry bag, pump, sponge, tow line and nautical maps with logistical info and points of interest — all included as standard.
Launch directly from Island Molat — 55 minutes by public ferry from Zadar Old Town. Island-hop north toward Mali Lošinj or south along Dugi Otok toward Kornati National Park.
No fixed schedule, no group pace. Your rental, your journey. We provide the framework; you choose the adventure. VHF radios, tents and sleeping bags available as add-ons.

FAQ
Certification is not mandatory, but we recommend the equivalent of BCU Level 3 leadership skills for self-supported rental. You must be comfortable with 15–20 km days in open water, basic navigation, and self-rescue. For less experienced paddlers, our self-guided tour option includes a full briefing, recommended routes and emergency support.
A regular catamaran ferry runs from Zadar Old Town harbour directly to Molat village once daily. The journey takes approximately 55 minutes. We provide full ferry timetable details and logistics upon booking confirmation.
We operate March through November. May–June and September–October are the sweet spots — reliably calm seas, water temperature 20–24°C, and fewer vessels on the water. July–August offers the warmest conditions (air temperature 30–39°C) but stronger afternoon winds are more common. Spring and autumn provide the best conditions for longer multi-day rentals.
Absolutely — multi-day rentals are our most popular option. The 7-day rate represents the best value, and for trips longer than 7 days the daily rate drops further. We can provide tents, sleeping bags, cooking sets and VHF radios as add-ons. The archipelago has abundant wild camping spots on uninhabited islands, reachable only by kayak.
Yes. We coordinate ferry transport from Zadar to Molat, provide storage at our base, and can supplement your own kit with any additional equipment you need. Contact us to arrange kayak transport logistics before booking your ferry crossing.
The Zadar Archipelago is widely regarded as one of Europe's finest sea kayaking environments for self-supported touring — 300+ islands creating sheltered channels with varied conditions, almost no motorised traffic on the outer islands, and wild camping on uninhabited beaches. Water clarity regularly exceeds 25m. The route north toward Mali Lošinj and south along Dugi Otok toward Kornati National Park are both outstanding multi-day options.
We recommend Windy using both the IconD2 and ECMWF models for wind and sea state forecasting. For a localised Croatian forecast, use the HRT Meteo Zadar forecast. Tides in the Adriatic are typically under 50cm. We provide a full weather briefing at the start of each rental.
What Paddlers Say
"From the moment you step onto the island of Molat and meet Marko at the quayside, your holiday begins. This is a rare opportunity to slow to the pace of island life and enjoy the pleasure of being close to nature at every opportunity."
Sean · England
"It seems that nature is dictating the pace, rather than the devices or our own little voices in the head. The Zadar Archipelago from a kayak is something else entirely."
Marjo · Finland
